VEHICLE HOIST SERVICING – COMPLIANCE INFORMATION

To comply with current Australian Standards AS/NZ STANDARD 2550.9:1996 Cranes – Safe use, Part 9: Vehicle hoists ALL VEHICLE HOISTS are subject to regular inspections. It is a requirement that inspections are carried out with consideration for the following points.

PRE-OPERATIONAL CHECKS
Reference AS / NZS 2550.9:1996 Section 5.5

  • Prior to commencing operations the hoist operator or other competent person shall complete a routine inspection and record this in a log book or other maintenance records. The Endurequip Services Hoist Log Book is fully compliant with Clause 6.5 of AS / NZS 2550.9:1996 and is available in a whether proof pouch that can be installed on the hoist for this purpose.

MAINTENANCE

It is a requirement that;

  • Pre-operational inspections are carried out by the operator of the hoist or a competent person
  • All 90 day ( 3 monthly ) , Annual ( 12 monthly )  and Major Inspections ( 10 year, 20 year  & 25 year ) are completed by a competent person.
  • All Inspections shall be carried out in conformance with AS 2550.1 and management’s instructions.
  • All Inspections, repairs & maintenance shall be recorded in accordance with Clause 6.5 of AS / NZS 2550.9:1996


COMPETENT PERSON

Competent person for inspection of vehicle hoists means a person who has acquired through training, educational or vocational qualifications in an engineering discipline relevant to the plant being inspected, the knowledge and skills to carry out the task.


MANAGEMENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES

Reference AS / NZS 2550.9:1996 Section 5.2

Management shall ensure that;

  • All personnel involved in the operation, inspection and maintenance of the vehicle hoist are adequately trained qualified and authorised.
  • Manuals applicable to the vehicle hoist are available to operators and maintenance personnel, together with management’s instructions.
  • All maintenance and repair records are in compliance with Clause 6.5 of AS / NZS 2550.9:1996
  • All Inspections and maintenance has been completed in conformance with the manufacturer’s or competent person’s recommendations prior to use.
  • All Vehicle hoists that are not compliant are immediately removed from service until compliant.
  • Procedures are established to deal with reasonably foreseeable emergency situations and that all personnel are fully trained in their application.
